gilsAs an attorney who spends my days helping people during what is likley the most difficult and emotionally taxing time in their lives I can assure you that I understand what you are going through and will do everything necessary to protect your rights and fight your case. I will always treat you with the respect and compassion that you deserve and work hard to get you the best resoltuion possible. Having an attorney represent you in court gives a human face and voice to your case that sets you apart from other defendants. This repreentation can make a huge difference in the outcome of your matter and should be persued whenever possible.

I find that the attorney-cleint relationship is a very personal one and I encourage all potential clients to shop around to make sure that the fit is right. I know how hard it is to take time off work to fight a charge and so I am available for consultations by phone if necessary.

Before I entered private practice I worked for the San Joaquin County District Attorneys Office. I know how the Prosecutors think and I use that experiance to help negotiate and fight for my clients.

I am an attorney admitted to practice law by the State Bar of California. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis and my Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law. While pursuing my law degree, I participated in the University of San Francisco School of Law Intensive Advocacy Program as well as the Predatory Lending Clinic. I also received the Public Interest Law Certificate.

Michael Moore has practiced law in Stockton and San Joaquin County for nearly a decade, specializing in defending people accused of crimes. During that time, he has gained substantial experience working with all judges and deputy District Attorneys in the area. He has handled almost every type of criminal case, from serious felonies, including murder, sex crimes, robberies, and burglaries, to misdemeanors like driving under the influence and petty theft. Regardless of the nature of your case, he will fight for the best possible outcome.

Not only is Mr. Moore is an excellent negotiator, often winning dismissals for his clients, he is more than willing to fight hard when push comes to shove. He has won numerous jury trials in his career and has a track record that speaks for itself.

Above all, however, Mr. Moore cares about all clients, no matter the charges and no matter their background. You will receive hands-on representation and spirited advocacy if you hire Mr. Moore to handle your case.

aprilApril Van Dyke has been practicing criminal law for 6 years. She started her career as a prosecutor. April has worked for the Sacramento and San Joaquin District Attorney’s Offices. She also worked as a prosecutor in the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District. This experience gives April a unique perspective into the mind of a prosecutor and the knowledge to anticipate the arguments and concerns of a prosecutor.

For the past 4 years April has aggressively defended clients charged with various crimes from minor misdemeanor offenses to sex crimes and drug offenses. April can negotiate a favorable plea bargain for you. But if a criminal trial becomes necessary she has represented clients in felony as well as misdemeanor trials from DUIs to gun and drug cases. When a plea cannot be negotiated April will aggressively defend you at trial. April was once described as a “honey badger” by a deputy district attorney because of her fearless representation of a client at trial.

While April fights hard for the rights and freedom of her clients she also provides support and compassion to her clients. Being charged with a crime is a stressful and sometimes traumatic experience. April understands that a client can feel like the whole world is against them. This is why it is incredibly important for a client to feel supported and understood by their attorney.

I was born and raised in Stockton, CA. I graduated from Amos Alonzo High School in 1967 and attended two (2) years at Delta and also attended Paralegal classes at Humphrey’s College.

I am married and have one (1) son and 3 step-children, and two (2) grandsons. My husband was born and raised in Italy and we travel there every other year and have also traveled to Germany , France and Brazil and different locations in the United States and Canada.

I started in the legal field in 1977 when my son started Kindergarten and worked the hours that he was in school. Before long I was working full time as a Paralegal and I have done so ever since. I am very proud to say this has been my profession for 37 years, and had the privilege of working with Attorney John L. Casenave for 35 of those years.

After Mr. Casenave’s passing in March of 2014, I began working for attorneys Leah N. Gillis and April Van Dyke as their Paralegal and Office Administrator. I am enjoying my new employers. You can always learn more, no matter how old you are.
